What Do Androids Dream

We set the robot off to clean our house. It follows the algorithm implanted in its brain - the control system and starts rolling. It is smart in the way that it does not ask for directions from us, however, it is not so smart that it has to keep constantly hitting the obstruction in order to learn it is an obstruction. After a few trials, it finally maps the room and understands the spatial quality of the space. Ultimately, it draws the path of its journey, invisibly.

As human beings, our engagement and interaction with the space are sensory. We primarily rely on our vision to navigate the space, and sometimes forget about the others. “To Dream Like Androids“ is a performance that mimics the journey of an imaginary robot, and establish a discussion through the behaviour of a robot that how can an alternative spatial experience be.
